the Jamila top
the Jamila top
The Jamila top is a sleeveless, embroidered corset that borrows its delicacy from the 16th-century European vogue for lace-edged handkerchiefs. Cut from pure white cotton, it becomes a miniature canvas: butterfly orchids, lilies, lilacs, and Chinese crab-apple blossoms are stitched in spare, confident lines, as if a secret garden had slipped its sketchbook and now peeks half an inch above the neckline.
Over this floats an almost weightless layer of fine-spun wool—breathable, sculptural, and quietly textured. Its charcoal-gray hue is borrowed from the weather-stained stones of old palace walls.
Two slender straps secure the bodice, while an embroidered trail runs the length of the spine; petals lift and settle with every movement, animating the curve of the back like a slow pulse.
In simple black and white, the Jamila top speaks in poetic details—timeless, versatile, and quietly sublime.
